Members in the News

Our members are doing great things. From investing their time and services to expanding their businesses and creating new jobs, there is never a shortage of good news.

Take Timberline Landscaping, for example. They just received the Donor of the Year from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado for their donation of snow removal, maintenance services, and the design and landscaping of the newest Colorado Springs Ronald McDonald House.

Then there’s ANB Bank’s regional president of Southern Colorado, Tom Ashley. He just received the Colorado Bankers Association’s Banker of Distinction award for fostering the community banking spirit through his involvement in and support of local activities. #Kudos

Speaking of banks, U.S. Bank was recently recognized as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the fifth consecutive year. They are one of only five honorees in the banking category. U.S. Bank’s local member branch has long supported the Colorado Springs community through various initiatives, including sponsorship of Chamber & EDC events.

This bit of news stopped us in our tracks – in a good way. Lyda Hill Philanthropies, an organization with close ties to the Colorado Springs community, dedicated $25 million to their new IF/THEN initiative to support women in STEM. The program combines traditional scientific organizations, like the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, with groups that don’t often emphasize STEM issues, such as the National Retail Federation. Their goal is to show how STEM touches every industry and activity, and well as highlight the many career opportunities for women in STEM. Pretty impressive work, if you ask us.

Here’s a fun one, especially for you snowboarders and skiers. Monarch Mountain is extending their season by two weeks, thanks to this year’s impressive snowfalls. Monarch has received over 240 inches (and counting) of snow this year. Season closing celebrations will commence on April 20.

And while we loved all the fresh snow this winter, it is leaving our vehicles in need of some spring cleaning. Enter our newest member, Miles Express. The self-proclaimed auto spa (ooh la la) is slated to open their first Colorado location at the corner of Constitution Avenue and Marksheffel Road later this year.

Lastly, Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has us looking ahead to summer. They recently announced that their 2019 seasonal service will include nonstop service to Atlanta, Minneapolis/St Paul, San Antonio, and Washington D.C., courtesy of Frontier. In addition, American Airlines is increasing its COS to DAL service to six times per day. Oh, and did we mention that United is adding first class seating options to their daily COS-LAX flights? Getting here is easier – and more comfortable – than ever before.
