Member Spotlight: ProLift Garage Doors Helps Homeowners Save Money Through Repairs

By Jayne Mhono Dickey

Replacing garage doors can be costly for homeowners with expenses for a new door ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

ProLift Garage Doors of East Colorado Springs launched in 2023 to help homeowners keep their garage doors in good condition and save money.

In looking into business ideas, Philip Neri found a market in the overhead door industry. He started the ProLift Garage Door franchise to provide maintenance, repair and installation services. “We wanted to get into the home services industry and landed on residential and commercial garage doors business,” says Neri.

The company conducts garage door panel and track repair and replacement, spring replacement, and garage door and opener installation.

Neri and his family received military orders to move to Fort Carson in 2019, a U.S. Army post located south of Colorado Springs, joining more than 100,000 service members and veterans who support the city’s aerospace and defense industry. The city’s business opportunities, great outdoors and amenities appealed to Neri and his family, so they decided to live in Colorado Springs and start a business.

“We fell in love with serving and living in this town,” says Neri. “We loved the idea of taking a proven business model, making it our own, and allowing us to determine the best way to serve potential customers.”

The franchise serves customers in Colorado Springs, Monument, Pueblo, Fountain, Peyton, Woodland Park and many other surrounding areas.

Named 9th Best Large City to Start a Business by WalletHub in 2022, Colorado Springs has created a welcoming environment for businesses, providing helpful resources like the COSOpenFor Biz, a tool on the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC website that guides entrepreneurs through the process of starting a business. It gives business owners access to market information on their industries, existing competition, and financial resources to start and grow a business.

Running a small business can be a challenge for new entrepreneurs. Limited budgets force many small business owners to wear several hats, from CEO to Janitor to marketing guru, as they build their businesses into profitable enterprises. Neri registered his business with the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC to utilize business resources to grow.

The Chamber & EDC networking opportunities have enabled ProLift Garage Doors to connect with new clients.

“[The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC] has helped spread the word on our business,” says Neri, who encourages new Chamber & EDC members to attend as many networking events as possible. “We have met great people who have introduced us to new clients,” he adds.

Home maintenance often comes with high costs. Neri believes homeowners can hold onto their garage doors a little longer. He advises homeowners to take good care of their overhead doors by lubricating moving parts every six months and keeping objects away from safety sensors to avoid damage.
