Meet your 2020 Board Chair: Kathy Boe
Five things to know about Kathy:
1. She’s a powerhouse in the aerospace and defense industry.
Boecore is celebrating its 20th year and employs 275 people. Boecore specializes in Software Solutions, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity and Specialized Mission Operations. The company counts the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, DHS, and the Missile Defense Agency – just to name a few – among its current customers.
2. She’s a go-getter.
Kathy started Boecore in her basement with five thousand dollars as a team of one. The entrepreneur quickly grew her company, with headquarters in downtown Colorado Springs, a regional office in Huntsville, Ala., and site operations in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Washington, and Virginia.
3. Her company employs an impressive number of veterans.
Approximately 40% of Boecore’s workforce are veterans, most of whom are local to our region. Boecore not only provides our defense industry with critical contract work but it also positively impacts our regional economy by employing transitioning military members.
4. She’s committed to serving our community.
Kathy is passionate about our community. She serves as a trustee of the Colorado Thirty Group, where she is entrusted with communicating between local Colorado communities and our national military to ensure strong relationships. She was appointed, as a founding board member for the Colorado Springs Health Foundation, and is passionate about innovative, data-driven solutions for our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Kathy also serves as a trustee for the National Cybersecurity Center. She and her team help build homes for local families through Habitat for Humanity and support many other local and national charities.
5. She pursues change as an opportunity.
Being nimble and innovative in the fast-changing world of cybersecurity and software development is a critical part of Boecore’s success. Boecore encourages collaboration at every level within the company, empowering all team members to identify and brainstorm solutions for their customers.
