Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North Enriches Lives Through Dance

By Jayne Mhono, Communications Manager

Dance is the movement of the soul. According to the Harvard Medical School, the health benefits associated with dance may exceed those of any other forms of exercise. The love for dance and the benefits that come with it led Lawrence and Lyndsy Aguirre to establish Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North, in 2022, to build a community of people who enjoy dancing.

“Lyndsy started a career with Fred Astaire in 2009 and fell in love with it. I started dancing professionally in 2005, and that became a staple in my life. We wanted to share the wonderful benefits of dance with people, so we set our sights on being studio owners someday,” said Lawrence Aguirre, Co-owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North.

From a simple first dance to social and even competitive dancing, Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North aims to improve lives through dance. “We strive to enrich lives physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially through the positive, transforming power of dance,” said Lyndsy Aguirre, Co-owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North. The Dance Studio offers private, group, and practice sessions to teach people to become more comfortable and confident in social dancing.

The Evolution of Ballroom Dance

Ballroom dance is the mainstay of Fred Astaire Dance Studios. First introduced in Western Europe for the elite class in the 1800s, the dance style has evolved, with performers from all segments of society. Between 1910 and 1930, the ballroom dance in the United States adapted into what became known as the American style, categorized into Rhythm and Smooth sub-styles, influenced by jazz music and the iconic choreography talent of Fred Astaire, a great dancer who changed the face of the American movie musical with his style and grace. Standard ballroom dance includes Waltz and Polka from the 19th Century, and the dance has since grown to include other popular dances such as Tango, Bachata, Bolero, Cha-cha, East Coast Swing, Hustle, and many others taught at Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North.

Dance is dynamic, and so is Fred Astaire’s

Located at North Academy and Vickers, Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North has four full-time dance instructors who help individuals and families get their dance moves in check ahead of occasions. Lyndsy and Lawrence Aguirre strive to keep up with the changing dance environment to maintain high standards for their clients. “Being part of a franchise means that we can constantly train and become better teachers and dancers. We also have access to some of the world’s most renowned judges and coaches that work with our staff regularly,” said Lyndsy Aguirre. “This is how we can maintain a very high standard of dance instruction and deliver this knowledge to our clients in a very fun and easy way.”

Like many businesses in the post-pandemic age, Fred Astaire Dance Studios Colorado Springs North is always looking for quality talent who can learn and represent the brand professionally. Their advice to aspiring business owners is to find a support team and resources to help them start and run their businesses efficiently.
