El Paso County Leads Colorado in Economic Development Projects for Fourth Straight Year

(Colorado Springs, CO) – The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC is pleased to announce that El Paso County led the state of Colorado in economic development projects for the fourth straight year, according to data released by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).

Throughout the 2024-25 fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), 12 economic development projects were approved for state incentives to move or expand their business to El Paso County, in partnership with the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County and Colorado Springs Utilities.

These 12 projects would create 1,480 jobs in El Paso County and represented 34% of the 35 projects for which the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) approved incentives in 2024-25.

“For the fourth year in a row, the Pikes Peak region led the state in economic development projects in collaboration with our state partners. This is the result of strong collaboration and shared vision,” said Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, President & CEO of the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC. “I’m incredibly proud of our team and excited to see the impact these new jobs will have on our community. Economic development is a team sport. We’re grateful to the teams at the City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado Springs Utilities, and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade for our partnership in creating quality jobs and driving investment that strengthens our regional and state economy.”

The Colorado EDC approved up to $88.8 million in performance-based incentives across the state, including $17,422,702 to projects in El Paso County, spanning industries that included aerospace & defense, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.

“I’m proud that our region continues to lead the state as the best place in Colorado to do business. These results reflect the strength of our partnerships and the shared vision that drives our local economy forward. Colorado Springs is a city of prosperity and possibility, where innovation, collaboration, and community come together to create opportunity,” said Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “I’m grateful for our partners across the county, including the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, Colorado Springs Utilities, El Paso County and the State of Colorado for working side by side to keep our region moving onward and upward.

“Leading the state once again shows that El Paso County is where innovation meets opportunity,” said Commissioner Carrie Geitner, Chair of the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners. “We continue to prove that this is the place where businesses can innovate, grow, and thrive. Through our collaborative approach, talented workforce, and strong community partnerships, we’ve built an environment that encourages entrepreneurs, attracts investment, and supports business success.”
