Momentum at the Peak Innovation Park

Interstate 25 connects seamlessly to Peak Innovation Park

Innovation is taking place across every industry – from aerospace to manufacturing to the life sciences – in cities across the nation. Cities that lean into their strengths are thriving with a firm knowledge that the backbone of economic success is robust connectivity and dedicated space for visionary businesses. A hub for innovation, Colorado Springs has a strategic, centralized position for doing business across the U.S. with access to cross-continental interstate highways while offering nonstop flights and easy connections across the nation through the Colorado Springs Airport.

Peak Innovation Park, located at the Colorado Springs Airport, is a focal point for business within the city with more than 900 acres of land. Peak Innovation Park offers quick and reliable access to I-25 and high visibility to more than 20,000 potential customers per day — right at the gateway to the Colorado Springs Airport. The business center is home to several Colorado Springs’ aerospace & defense companies including Northrop Grumman and the Aerospace Corporation, as well as Amazon’s technology-focused distribution and sorting centers.

Companies Spread their Wings in Colorado Springs

As the provisional home of U.S. Space Command, the U.S. Space Force Space Operations Command, and the Space Training and Readiness Command, Colorado Springs is the unbridled global leader in aerospace research, education, and innovation.

In September 2022, governmental advising agency Aerospace Corp. unveiled its 90,000-square-foot Space Warfighting Center located at the Peak Innovation Park. The new facility is located beside the company’s existing facility and will support the demand of local military space agencies for technical design and specialized training.

Equipped with digital engineering and simulation labs for the design of satellites and training of operators, the Space Warfighting Center will boost Colorado Springs’ local economy with approximately 250 new jobs and support the nation’s future space enterprise.

Highflying Potential for Business Travel

Another major company recently expanded operations at the Colorado Springs Airport, bringing additional business travel and higher visibility for Colorado Springs businesses. Southwest Airlines began offering service to and from Colorado Springs in March 2021, including daily departures to Denver, Chicago, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Dallas.

With the addition of Southwest non-stop flights, Colorado Springs Airport hit a 13-year high during their first year of operation — driving ticket prices down in the process. More than 97,000 travelers boarded planes at the Colorado Springs Airport in September 2022 with Southwest Airlines and United Airlines responsible for the bulk of flight bookings. This was a 4.6% increase above sales for the previous year, which has motivated Southwest to offer more nonstop seasonal service to select cities throughout the holiday season.
